Brandon Davies, a sophomore basketball player at Brigham Young University (BYU) was dismissed from the basketball team for breaking the schools honor code and having sex with his girlfriend. To some people, this seems to be unfair and uncalled for, however I think some of these people are forgetting that BYU is also the oldest existing institution within the Church Educational System. The school is also owned by the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints which holds a strict honor code. As small an infraction as it may seem to us, the students at BYU are held to high moral expectations. Davies told officials himself which I assume he knew what the consequences would be for his actions. Although it may seem unfair, I believe that Davies should have adhered to the rules or at least kept it to himself if he did not want to be punished. This goes to show that their are still people in the world with morals and I do not think that this should have caused such an uproar with people. I believe in changing with the times but if you choose to live a certain lifestyle then you should go by those rules.
Below is the schools honor code:

If you go to school and they have expectations....follow them. If you can't follow them then you go to another school or you get punished. Although, it times are changing and just having sex with your bf/gf is considered norm to society, you pay the consequences either way especially if you go to a school like this.
