Death to Video Games

"Those shoes are to DIE for!!" How many times have we heard a saying like this? Well it seems this generation of kids are taking sayings like this seriously. I just came across a story where a 16-year old boy killed his mother because she took away his Playstation privileges. The teenagers privileges were taken away and while his mother was asleep he went into her room and hit her 20 times with a claw hammer, tried to cremate her in the oven, then beat her corpse with a chair leg. This is the second time that I have heard a kid has killed their mother over a video game and if video games have this type of affect on my children then I don't know how I feel about them playing them. If two children were moved enough to kill their parents, then on a lower level what are other children willing to do for video games? Fight, steal, and actually act out the actions done in the games?

  1. The Video games themselves are violent. The mentality of being on the offensive and violent is subliminally embedded, thereby, causing automatic violence. this type of behavior can only be done by indoctrination to the video game- just as violence is carried out by indoctrinated religious extremist. if a malleable minded child is abandoned for hours alone playing violent video games, then he or she is nothing more than a product of his or her visualizations or perceptions- violence, and as you state, criminal behavior is what follows. it is the content that causes this perilous obsession, then it is reinforced over and over, with little to none intervention, until it is too late. By the time the intervention is done the programing has already happened.

  2. I agree that there is too much video gaming for kids these days. In fact I'm disappointed at the fact that parents allow for video games to babysit their children. Get rid of video game equipment or better yet if you can't maintain it without abusing it then don't buy it. Parents in this society need to be more active with their kids. throw a ball read them a book. I think it is up to the parents to police what games children play and how often. Parents point blank need to be more involved in their childrens lives. point blank.
